FAQ — Omni Advanced Electrology

Question 1

Is electrolysis really permanent?

Accepted Answer

Yes — electrolysis is the only hair removal method recognized by the FDA as truly permanent. By destroying the hair follicle itself, the hair cannot regrow. No other method, including laser, carries this designation.

Question 2

How is electrolysis different from laser hair removal?

Accepted Answer

Laser targets pigment in the hair, which means it only works on dark hair against light skin. Electrolysis uses electrical current to destroy the follicle directly — it works on every hair color (including blonde, red, gray, and white) and every skin tone.

Question 3

Does electrolysis hurt?

Accepted Answer

Most clients describe the sensation as a brief warmth, a slight sting, or a mild zap. Discomfort varies by area and individual sensitivity. Many clients find it very manageable, and the sensation passes immediately after each insertion.

Question 4

How many sessions will I need?

Accepted Answer

The number of sessions depends on the area being treated, your hair density, and your individual hair growth cycle. Hair grows in phases, so multiple sessions are needed to treat each follicle at the right stage. Most clients see significant reduction within several months of consistent treatment.

Question 5

How long does each session take?

Accepted Answer

Sessions can range from 15 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the area and the amount of hair being treated. Your first appointment includes a consultation, so plan for a bit of extra time.

Question 6

Is electrolysis safe for all skin tones?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Unlike laser, electrolysis does not rely on skin-to-hair contrast. It is safe and effective for all skin tones, from the lightest to the deepest.

Question 7

Can electrolysis treat any area of the body?

Accepted Answer

Electrolysis can treat virtually any area — face, neck, chest, back, arms, legs, underarms, bikini, and sensitive areas. If you're unsure whether your area of concern can be treated, just ask.

Question 8

Do you treat transgender and non-binary clients?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Omni Advanced Electrology is a welcoming, judgment-free space for all clients. Gender-affirming electrolysis — including facial and body hair removal — is a significant part of the practice.

Question 9

What should I do to prepare for my appointment?

Accepted Answer

Come with clean skin — no lotions, makeup, or sunscreen on the treatment area. Avoid plucking or waxing for at least two weeks before your session, as the hair needs to be present in the follicle. Shaving is fine.

Question 10

What can I expect after a session?

Accepted Answer

Some redness or minor swelling in the treated area is normal and typically resolves within a few hours. Avoid touching the area, applying makeup, or exposing it to direct sun immediately after treatment. Your practitioner will give you specific aftercare guidance.

Question 11

Do you treat skin anomalies like skin tags or cherry hemangiomas?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In addition to permanent hair removal, treatments are available for cherry hemangiomas, skin tags, thread veins, and milia. These are addressed using advanced electrolysis techniques in the same professional, private setting.

Question 12

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer

The first step is a consultation — a no-pressure conversation about your goals, your hair and skin type, and what to expect. Call 207-318-2594 or use the contact form to schedule yours.
